6th Grade Class Information

Welcome to 6th Grade Social Studies. This will be an important, demanding, eventful, and hopefully enjoyable year for you.

In this World History course we will be cover the following topics:

  • The Stone Age and Early Cultures
  • Mesopotamia
  • Ancient Egypt and Kush
  • Ancient India
  • Ancient China
  • Ancient  Greece
  • The Roman Republic
  • Early African Civilizations
  • China
  • Japan
  • The Early Americas
  • The Middle Ages
  • World Relgions

Students will be assigned an online ID to access the textbook during the first week of class.  



Grading will occur on a variety of assignments:

  • Quizzes/tests: There will be short quizzes, sometimes unannounced, and a more comprehensive test at the end of each unit of study. 
  • Homework: will be checked for completion when due and collected from time to time for a grade.
  • Participation: be involved in class discussions, work actively on projects and in cooperative learning activities and keep the response/reflection journal which will be on google classroom.
  • Projects: apply effort and schedule your time wisely. There will be various web based assignments as well as oral and visual presentations.


HOMEWORK: Posted on the classroom blackboard and on Google classroom. For regular daily assignments you have as many days to make up the work as you have been “excused” for your absence.

REMEMBER: I will not pursue you about your missed work.  Check Google classroom or with your fellow students to get any missed work.  


Daily assignments – no credit given

Long range assignments – Go down one letter grade per day. No credit given after 3 days.


Be on time! You must be in your seat and ready to work when the class is scheduled to begin.

Be prepared! Bring daily-required materials to class every day.

Be respectful! Show respect to everyone and everything!
